A Night of Horror/Fantastic Planet

THE MOVIE TRIVIA CHALLENGE returns for its second year: Saturday April 6!

Think you know the nitty-gritty of horror & science-fiction movies? Think you know your Omen from your Prophecy? Your Dark Star from your Black Hole? Horrorphile & sf-buff and Movie Trivia Challenge host Bryn Tilly invites teams of between two and five to rise (or descend, depending on your genre sensibility) to the occasion.

An afternoon of serious cinema-geek fun! Big prize pack for the winning team, and other give-aways throughout the afternoon!

This event will double as the unofficial launch of the 4th Fantastic Planet & 7th Annual A Night Of Horror International Film Festivals, screening at Dendy Cinemas Newtown from April 11 – 21.

Teams must register their team moniker & number of members to movietriviachallenge@gmail.com no later than midnight Thursday April 4th. Teams are encouraged to bring a mascot representing their team moniker as a secondary prize will be awarded to the team with the coolest mascot.

Where and When: Saturday April 6th, 2:00pm, The Velvet Room. Upstairs in the Bank Hotel, 324 King Street, Newtown

Opening Night Film of the 2013 festival announced:
Australian Premiere of ALL SUPERHEROES MUST DIE

All Superheroes Must Die

KICK-ASS meets SAW in this twisting, high-octane, thrill ride. Four superheroes awaken, stripped of their powers. They are forced to choose between letting civilian hostages die, or competing in a series of lethal challenges, designed by their arch-nemesis Rickshaw (James Remar, DEXTER). Yet the heroes' biggest threat might come from within: the dangerous rivalry between the group's leader, Charge (Jason Trost, THE FP), and his old sidekick Cutthroat (Lucas Till, X-MEN: FIRST CLASS). And when your leader believes that back-up plans are only for people who intend to fail, make no mistake: Superheroes will die!

PLUS! Screening to be followed by Q&A with special international guests: Director/star Jason Trost, and producer/star Lucas Till (best known to fans of the superhero genre for his role as Havok in X-MEN: FIRST CLASS). The duo will also be at the festival for the World Premiere of their latest feature film, the hilarious action/comedy gem WET AND RECKLESS. (Check back here soon for full festival program).

Total Recall, in cinemas August 23!

Total Recall

Total Recall has been inspired anew by the short story “We Can Remember It For You Wholesale” by famous science fiction writer Philip K. Dick.

Welcome to Rekall, the company that can turn your dreams into real memories. For a factory worker named Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell), even though he's got a beautiful wife (Kate Beckinsale) whom he loves, the mind-trip sounds like the perfect vacation from his frustrating life - real memories of life as a super-spy might be just what he needs. But when the procedure goes horribly wrong, Quaid becomes a hunted man. Finding himself on the run from the police – controlled by Chancellor Cohaagen (Bryan Cranston) – there is no one Quaid can trust, except possibly a rebel fighter (Jessica Biel) working for the head of the underground resistance (Bill Nighy). The line between fantasy and reality gets blurred and the fate of his world hangs in the balance as Quaid discovers his true identity, his true love, and his true fate.

Total Recall is in cinemas from AUGUST 23. Check out the trailer here - www.TotalRecallMovie.com.au

Special screening at Revelation Perth International Film Festival
Saturday July 17, 3:00pm

Fantastic Planet is delighted to present a choice sample of the 2009 festival at Revelation Perth International Film Festival. Including Eraser Children (winner of "Best Australian Film" at Fantastic Planet 2009) and three breathtaking short films (The Attack of the Robots from Nebula-5, The Snow Princes, Burden).

Eraser Children

Eraser Children is a compelling and visually arresting exploration of a macabre future. Imagining a dystopia of useless products, pre-paid dreams, and a system of 'violations' so invasive that if you laugh too loudly you will be fined, the film is reminiscent of the very best in cinematic Sci-Fi satire from Metropolis through Fahrenheit 451 to Terry Gilliam's Brazil.

Eraser Children will be introduced by the film's director Nathan Christoffel.

See details and booking info by clicking here.
